Alexis Allen M.Ed., Ed.S.
Alexis is a Western North Carolina native with a Master’s of Education and Specialist degree in Special Education. Before joining the team at Foothills at Red Oak Recovery, she balanced dual responsibilities at an all-boys residential treatment center as the Director of Learning Services and also as a Math & Science Teacher. In addition to developing Individualized Academic Plans (IAPs) and liaising with staff, parents, and educational consultants, she taught multiple classes including Biology, Chemistry, Algebra I, and Algebra II. Prior to this experience, Alexis worked overseas as a math & science teacher with the US Embassy schools in China, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan.
Alexis’s teaching philosophy focuses on the need for educators to understand diverse learning styles and implement meaningful experiential learning activities. As a lifelong educator, she believes that effective individualized accommodations and modifications are essential to empowering students of all backgrounds and needs. Alexis is excited to bring her background and experiences to Foothills and support students and families through their therapeutic journey. In her free time, Alexis enjoys ceramics, hiking, and spending quality time with her husband and children.
